The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) seeks to establish a solid reputation through its outstanding research and innovations. It is the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at the university, dedicated to student-centric education and cutting-edge research in engineering and science. It offers 20 degree programmes, including 8 bachelor’s, 7 master’s, and 5 doctoral programmes that serve more than 1500 students. FST has the university’s largest graduate programmes with more than 700 postgraduates, including about 260 doctoral students.

All of its bachelor’s degree programmes in engineering and computer science are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and recognized worldwide. The university is among the top 1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, our Engineering and Technology programme is ranked among the top 125 and Computer Science programme among the top 200, arising from its status of a local community college in less than 10 years.

FST has a full-time and part-time complement of qualified faculty members. They came from world-renowned universities with rich experience with innovative teaching and quality research worldwide. They are committed not only to fulfilling the education mission for local and regional needs but also to advancing the knowledge of humankind by conducting groundbreaking research. Many of them are highly accomplished scholars with national and international prestige or are rising stars in their fields.

Educational goal of FST not only matches local needs through our comprehensive training and placement network but also equips its graduates with international experience through academic exchange programmes and international research collaborations. We particularly emphasize our elite research programme and 3+2 programmes for outstanding undergraduate students to participate in preeminent research at an early stage of their studies and to directly admit to some of the world’s top graduate schools.
