Department of Electromechanical Engineering (EME) and IDQ welcomed a visit from IMechE

The representatives of Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) U.K., including Mr. Stephen Tetlow, Chief Executive of IMechE, and 3 senior members of IMechE visited Institute for the Development and Quality (IDQ) and Department of Electromechanical Engineering (EME) of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) on 30th November 2010. Prof. Pak Kin Wong, Head of Department of EME, Prof. Lap Mou Tam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IDQ, and Dr. Seng Fat Wong, Coordinator of EME Mentorship Program, warmly greeted them.

Mr. Stephen Tetlow and Mr. Chris Chong firstly gave a brief introduction of IMechE, and Mr. Ricky W K Kan, Former Chairman of Young Member Section of Hong Kong Branch of IMechE, presented the Hong Kong Student Chapter. Mr. Simon Mak, Honorary Treasurer and Co-Chairman of Activities Sub-Committee, introduced the First Engineering Week, a professional activity that will be held in March 2011 in Hong Kong, and invited EME to join the conference and competition of Engineering Week.

Prof. Pak Kin Wong and Prof. Lap Mou Tam then presented the development of EME and IDQ respectively and invited IMechE for a tour to IDQ and EME laboratories. After the presentation, EME and IMechE discussed on the potential cooperation opportunity between them and looking forward to organize some student activities in the field of mechanical engineering.
