Mr. Sheng Bin, a MSc student supervised by Prof. Wu Enhua, published a full(regular) paper at IEEE VR2007 which is the top annual conference in USA for more than a decade.

Initiated from the year 1993, IEEE Virtual Reality annual symposium has been for more than a decade, solely held in USA. It is the most well known international conference in the field of Virtual Reality, and established its high reputation as the top international conference in the field. Normally in the program, apart from the paper session, panels, tutorials & workshops are organized for symposium each year. There were 3 Panels, 5 Tutorials and 3 Workshops organized at IEEE VR07. From the year 2006, IEEE VGTC (Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee) Technical Achievement Award & Career Award have been initiated at the conf. also.The primary event in IEEE VR is its paper session, and in particular the regular or full papers are extremely competitive since most of the works are mainly from the famous Labs and research centers in USA & Europe, and the review process has been running very rigorously, comparable to top journals.IEEE VR2007 was held in city Charlotte of North Carolina, near 400 professionals attended the conference. For the paper session, 26 full papers (16%) were accepted from 160 submissions, plus 15 sketches & 18 posters selected. In total around 250 professionals around world were invited to attend the review process, with each paper reviewed by at least 4, and most 5 reviewers, followed a PC meeting in discussion of the acceptance of each paper. Among the 26 full papers, 21 from USA & Europe, and 3 from Japan & Microsoft Research Asia. The full paper by Mr Sheng Bin from University of Macau by a Msc candidate is therefore particularly special since most of the papers were from a collective work of PhDs or above. Sheng�s work made a novel contribution by extending the view point of a walking-through environment from the outside of the virtual environment into the inside on a scheme of what is called a cubic relieve texture structure.
