UM student wins best paper award at 3rd International Symposium on Engineering and Natural Science

Ip Chi Wai, a master's student from the University of Macau's (UM) Department of Electromechanical Engineering, recently won a best paper award at the Third International Symposium on Engineering and Natural Science (ISEANS), for his paper titled ‘Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Ultrasonic Inlet Flow on Heat Transfer inside the Horizontal Mini-Tubes'. Ip's research project was supervised by Prof Tam Lap Mou and Dr Tam Hou Kuan.

Ip's project investigates the influence of ultrasound on heat transfer inside horizontal mini-tubes under uniform wall heat flux boundary condition. The results showed that ultrasound significantly increased heat transfer in the mini-tubes. The findings provide a scientific basis for improving the performance of small-scale thermal systems such as micro-heat exchangers. This research project received support from the Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau.

Held in Beijing, this year's symposium attracted over 200 experts and scholars from around the world, including China, the United States, South Korea, and Japan. The event aimed to provide a platform for experts in the fields of engineering and natural science to present their latest research results.

澳門大學科技學院機電工程系碩士生葉志偉以其學術文章“超聲波進水流對水平微管內熱傳影響之實驗研究”於國際工程及自然科學研討會中獲專家學者高度評價,突圍而出獲頒“優秀論文獎”。

該文由澳大機電工程系譚立武教授、譚浩崑博士指導。葉志偉利用實驗方法,研究超聲波如何影響在均勻熱量加熱下水平微管內的熱傳,結果顯示超聲波能增強微管內的對流熱傳。此科學發現對改善小型熱力系統的效能,如微型熱交換器等,提供了一個科學性的基礎。此研究項目由澳門發展及質量研究所贊助。

今屆“國際工程及自然科學研討會"在北京舉行,吸引超過兩百名來自中國、美國、韓國、日本等地的專家學者參與。研討會主要目的是作為一個平台給予世界各地工程領域以及自然科學界的專家分享研究成果。
