Our Universe: Past, Now and Future
Speaker:Dr. Yi WANG
Assistant Professor
the Department of Physics
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Date & Time:22 Sep 2016 (Thursday) 8:30
Organized by:Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering

This talk is an introduction of cosmology and focuses on three fundamental questions:

  1. What is the nature of our current universe? The components which makes our universe are introduced, especially the dark matter.
  2. What is the future of our universe? The observation and theory of dark energy is discussed.
  3. Where does our universe come from? The theory of cosmic inflation is introduced. We also briefly mention our work on the expansion history of the primordial universe.

Dr. Yi WANG got his PhD in 2009 at Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was then postdoc at McGill University and IPMU at University of Tokyo, and the Stephen Hawking Advanced Fellow at University of Cambridge. He is now assistant professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
