D-instantons and Universal Hypermultiplet

After a brief review of the type-II superstring compactification on Calabi-Yau three-folds a non-perturbative calculation of the quaternionic-Kaehler metric in the moduli space of the universal hypermultiplet is given. A remarkable connection to integrable systems and modular forms is demonstrated in detail. Both mathematical and physical aspects of D-instatons are discussed on particular examples.


Prof. Sergey V. Ketov is currently the Associate Professor of Physics Department, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Metropolitan University, and Research Associate at the Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe, University of Tokyo. Prof. Ketov has received the Endeavour Executive Award from the Government of Australia in 2012, Research Award from the Inoue Foundation in 2004, and the Business Award from the Government of the Rheinland-Pfalz in 2002. Prof. Ketov is interested in Cosmology, Supersymmetry and Supergravity, Strings and Superstrings, Branes and M-Theory, Conformal Field Theory, and Non-liner Sigma-models. The publications of Prof. Ketov include, New actions for modified gravity and supergravity, Dark energy in modified supergravity, Inflation and non-minimal scalar-curvature coupling in gravity and supergravity, Consistency of inflation and preheating in F(R) supergravity etc.
