Data in Lives: How is Big Data Improving Our Lives

Big data makes many of new innovations possible. It is well-believed that data will become the essential ingredient for the 21st just as oil was to the 20th. There are several ways the big data will change our lives, including health care, sport analysis, personalized advertisements, easy commutes, political campaigns, etc. In this talk, I use a story happened in Macau to introduce how the big data techniques will change our lives.


Ryan Leong Hou U is now an assistance professor at department of Computer and Information Science, University of Macau. His research interest includes spatial and spatio-temporal databases, advanced query processing, web data management, information retrieval, data mining and optimization problems. His research team regularly publishes results in top-tier database conferences and journals, including SIGMOD, VLDB, TODS, VLDBJ, etc.
