Prof. Wai-Meng Quach is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Macau, and an Associate Editor for \u201cAdvances in Structural Engineering<\/a> <\/span>\u2013 An International Journal<\/em>\u201d. He is also an Expert<\/a><\/span> (Structural Engineering) in the National Science and Technology Programs Expert Database<\/a><\/span>, China (only 3 persons in Macau, with structural engineering profession, were nominated and included<\/em><\/span>); and the board member and Macau representative, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Universities Intelligent Design and Manufacturing Alliance. He was the Head of the CEE department at the University of Macau (2013-2016), the founding Chairman of Executive Board of the Macau Society of Metal Structures (MSMS, 2007-2010), and the Honorary Advisor of the Macau Construction Association (MCA, 2008-2010).<\/p>

In 2013~2016, he led the CEE department to complete the full accreditation exercise of the BSc programme in Civil Engineering; and achieve the full accreditation over 5 professional disciplines<\/span> (\u201cStructural\u201d, \u201cGeotechnical\u201d, \u201cBuilding\u201d, \u201cCivil\u201d, and \u201cLogistics and Transportation\u201d ) granted by the HKIE under the recognition of the Washington Accord^<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>

His research interests include steel structures, cold-formed steel, additive manufacturing for construction, high performance structural materials, composite structures, strengthening and repair under marine environment. He was well known for his expertise particularly in cold-formed steel structures, fabrication-induced residual stresses and imperfections. In recent years, he also extended his research into additive manufacturing for construction, strengthening and repair under marine environment using various high performance materials (including steel, concrete, UHPC and FRP); aiming for the next generation of sustainable and intelligent construction.<\/p>

He has been the principal investigator (PI) of some internal and external research projects funded by the Fundo para o Desenvolvimento das Ci\u00eancias e da Tecnologia (FDCT) of Macao S.A.R, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China, the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) of the Malaysia Ministry of Education, and\u00a0other funding agencies. In 2024, he (as PI) successfully received a FDCT-MOST joint research grant (MOP 2.04 million<\/span>) with the success rate of 8.3%<\/span> (only 15<\/span> applications were approved among total 180<\/span> applications<\/em>). So far, he has received the research grants of total MOP 8.9 million<\/span><\/u>. Findings from these projects already led to the publication of two proceedings and over 90 papers in journals and conferences. His FWCI (Scival)<\/span> values are 2.5<\/span><\/strong> (5-year average<\/span>) and\u00a02.04<\/span><\/strong> (10-year average<\/span>), while his highest FWCI (Scival) in recent 5 years was 6.1<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0(year 2021<\/span>)<\/u>. His H-index<\/span>: 25<\/span>. Total citations: over 2300<\/span>. The highest citations of a single paper: over 280<\/span>. Impactio Academic Ranking** <\/span>: Top 0.01%<\/span> in Structural Engineering, Top 0.03%<\/span> in Materials Science, & Composite Material, respectively.<\/p>

\u90ed\u5049\u660e<\/span>\uff0c\u6fb3\u9580\u5927\u5b78\u571f\u6728\u8207\u74b0\u5883\u5de5\u7a0b\u7cfb\u526f\u6559\u6388\uff0c \u535a\u58eb\u751f\u5c0e\u5e2b\uff0c \u570b\u969b\u671f\u520a\u300a<\/span>Advances in Structural Engineering<\/a><\/span>\u300b\u526f\u4e3b\u7de8\uff0c <\/span>\u4e2d\u570b\u570b\u5bb6\u79d1\u6280\u8a08\u5283\u5c08\u5bb6\u5eab<\/a>– \u5c08\u5bb6<\/a><\/span>(\u7d50\u69cb\u5de5\u7a0b)[\u53ea\u6709\u4e09\u540d\u672c\u6fb3\u7d50\u69cb\u5de5\u7a0b\u5c08\u5bb6\u88ab\u6210\u529f\u63d0\u540d<\/em><\/span>]\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u7ca4\u6e2f\u6fb3\u9ad8\u6821\u667a\u80fd\u8a2d\u8a08\u8207\u88fd\u9020\u806f\u76df – \u6fb3\u9580\u65b9\u8ca0\u8cac\u4eba\u3002 <\/span>\u66fe\u4efb\u6fb3\u9580\u5927\u5b78\u571f\u6728\u5de5\u7a0b\u8207\u74b0\u5883\u5de5\u7a0b\u7cfb\u7cfb\u4e3b\u4efb(2013-2016)\uff0c \u4ee5\u53ca\u6fb3\u9580\u91d1\u5c6c\u7d50\u69cb\u5b78\u6703\u5275\u6703\u7406\u4e8b\u9577<\/span>(2007-2010)\u3002 \u5728\u4efb\u7cfb\u4e3b\u4efb\u671f\u9593<\/span>(2013-2016)\uff0c <\/span>\u4ed6\u9818\u5c0e\u5de5\u7a0b\u7cfb\u5efa\u7acb\u4e86\u4e00\u500b\u5065\u5168\u7684\u5b78\u8853\u54c1\u8cea\u9ad4\u7cfb<\/span>\uff0c \u4ee5\u63d0\u9ad8\u8ab2\u7a0b\u54c1\u8cea\u3002 \u5728<\/span>2016\u5e74\uff0c <\/span>\u5e36\u9818\u5de5\u7a0b\u7cfb\u53d6\u5f97\u9999\u6e2f\u5de5\u7a0b\u5e2b\u5b78\u6703\u5de5\u7a0b\u5c08\u696d\u8ab2\u7a0b\u8a8d\u8b49<\/span>(\u571f\u6728\u5c08\u696d\u672c\u79d1\u8ab2\u7a0b)<\/span>\uff0c \u540c\u6642\u7372\u5f97\u300a\u83ef\u76db\u9813\u5354\u8b70\u300b\u7684\u8a8d\u53ef^<\/span>\u3002 <\/span><\/p>

\u90ed\u6559\u6388\u662f\u92fc\u7d50\u69cb\u3001\u51b7\u5f4e\u92fc\u7d50\u69cb\u3001\u548c\u6b98\u9918\u61c9\u529b\u65b9\u9762\u7684\u5c08\u5bb6\uff0c \u5c24\u5176\u91dd\u5c0d\u7531\u51b7\u6210\u5f62\u904e\u7a0b\u6240\u5f15\u81f4\u7684\u5e7e\u4f55\u7f3a\u9677\u3001\u6b98\u9918\u61c9\u529b\u548c\u51b7\u4f5c\u786c\u5316\u6548\u61c9\u5c0d\u92fc\u7d50\u69cb\u6027\u80fd\u7684\u5f71\u97ff\u4f5c\u6df1\u5165\u7814\u7a76\uff1b\u540c\u6642\u4e5f\u5728\u7e96\u7dad\u589e\u5f37\u5fa9\u5408\u6750\u6599\uff08FRP\uff09\u8207\u8d85\u9ad8\u6027\u80fd\u6df7\u51dd\u571f\uff08UHPC\uff09\u65b9\u9762\u958b\u5c55\u4e86\u4e0d\u5c11\u7684\u7814\u7a76\u5de5\u4f5c\u3002 \u5176\u7814\u7a76\u9818\u57df\u9084\u6d89\u53ca\uff1a\u589e\u6750\u5236\u9020\u6280\u8853\u5728\u571f\u6728\u5efa\u7bc9\u4e2d\u61c9\u7528\u3001\u9ad8\u6027\u80fd\u7d50\u69cb\u6750\u6599\u3001\u5fa9\u5408\u6750\u6599\u7d50\u69cb\u3001\u6d77\u6d0b\u53ca\u6cbf\u6d77\u74b0\u5883\u4e0b\u4e4b\u7d50\u69cb\u589e\u5f37\u53ca\u4fee\u5fa9\u6280\u8853\u3002 <\/span><\/p>
