He is also an <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fdct.gov.mo\/download\/cooperation\/2019expert_CN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expert<\/a><\/span> (Structural Engineering) in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fdct.gov.mo\/zh_tw\/expert_database.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Science and Technology Programs Expert Database<\/a><\/span>, China (<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>only 3 persons in Macau, with structural engineering profession, were nominated and included<\/em><\/span>); and the board member and Macau representative, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Universities Intelligent Design and Manufacturing Alliance. He was the Head of the CEE department at the University of Macau (2013-2016), the founding Chairman of Executive Board of the Macau Society of Metal Structures (MSMS, 2007-2010), and the Honorary Advisor of the Macau Construction Association (MCA, 2008-2010).<\/p><p>In 2013~2016, he led the CEE department to complete the full accreditation exercise of the BSc programme in Civil Engineering; and achieve the <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">full accreditation over 5 professional disciplines<\/span> (\u201cStructural\u201d, \u201cGeotechnical\u201d, \u201cBuilding\u201d, \u201cCivil\u201d, and \u201cLogistics and Transportation\u201d ) granted by the HKIE under the <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">recognition of the Washington Accord<strong>^<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p><p>His research interests include steel structures, cold-formed steel, additive manufacturing for construction, high performance structural materials, composite structures, strengthening and repair under marine environment. He was well known for his expertise particularly in cold-formed steel structures, fabrication-induced residual stresses and imperfections. In recent years, he also extended his research into additive manufacturing for construction, strengthening and repair under marine environment using various high performance materials (including steel, concrete, UHPC and FRP); aiming for the next generation of sustainable and intelligent construction.<\/p><p>He has been the principal investigator (PI) of some internal and external research projects funded by the Fundo para o Desenvolvimento das Ci\u00eancias e da Tecnologia (FDCT) of Macao S.A.R, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China, the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) of the Malaysia Ministry of Education, and\u00a0other funding agencies. In 2024, he (as PI) successfully received a FDCT-MOST joint research grant (<span style=\"color: #0000ff\">MOP 2.04 million<\/span>) with the success rate of <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">8.3%<\/span> (only <em><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">15<\/span> applications were approved among total <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">180<\/span> applications<\/em>). So far, <u>he has received the research grants of <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">total MOP 8.9 million<\/span><\/u>. Findings from these projects already led to the publication of two proceedings and over 90 papers in journals and conferences. <u>His <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">FWCI (Scival)<\/span> values are <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">2.5<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff\">5-year average<\/span>) and\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">2.04<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #0000ff\">10-year average<\/span>), while his highest FWCI (Scival) in recent 5 years was <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">6.1<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0(<span style=\"color: #0000ff\">year 2021<\/span>)<\/u>. His <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">H-index<\/span>: <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">25<\/span>. Total citations: over <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">2300<\/span>. The highest citations of a single paper: over <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">280<\/span>.
