\/><p><strong><em>Programme Improvement, Assessment, Accreditation and Management<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>In year 2010, as the Department Coordinator for the Civil Engineering Programme Accreditation, Dr. Quach assisted the CEE department to define the program educational objectives (PEO) and program outcomes (PO), to set up a quality-assurance system for the self monitoring and assessment, and to carry out the preparation work for the program accreditation. It was being done to assure the programme quality and to enable a better personal and future career development for each student in the programme.<\/p><p>In 2010-2012, Dr. Quach received the appointment at the faculty level to serve as the Faculty Accreditation Coordinator for all the four undergraduate programmes of FST. Since then, he was responsible for the coordination of the accreditation process of these BSc programmes in FST.\u00a0 As a result, he assisted the faculty to obtain the Provisional Accreditation of these four programmes from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in year 2012. These 4 programmes were subsequently recognized by 14 signatories of the Washington Accord in year 2014.<\/p><p>Since 2013, Dr. Quach served as the Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He completed the revision of both the MSc and PhD programme, and the programme review of post-graduate programmes. He led the department to establish a robust academic quality system involving various mechanisms (such as the ABET two-loop model) for the improvement of the programme quality. <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">He also led the department to complete the full accreditation exercise of the BSc programme in Civil Engineering in December 2015, and achieved the full accreditation of the programme over 5 professional disciplines (<em>including \u201cStructural\u201d, \u201cGeotechnical\u201d, \u201cBuilding\u201d, \u201cCivil\u201d, and \u201cLogistics and Transportation\u201d disciplines<\/em>) granted by the HKIE under the recognition of the Washington Accord in year 2016. <u>As the usual practice, only top 30% universities in a country can receive such recognition for their engineering programmes with high academic quality<\/u><\/span>.<\/p><p><strong><em>Course Development <\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>In years 2006-2008, two BSc courses (CIVL457 and CIVL488) and one MSc course (CIVL7028) on design aspects were developed by Dr. Quach, in order to provide optional courses for students interested with structural design practice. On the other hand, the syllabus of a BSc course on reinforced concrete design (CIVL4007) was revised to include some content about Macau reinforced concrete code and loading code.
