Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM was established in 1972. It is a public utility company with a sole concession to generate, transmit, distribute, sell, import and export electricity in Macau. Professionalism, Respect for the Community and Respect for People are the company’s core values. CEM is fully committed to continuously upgrading its operational standards and improving the quality of service to its customers in order to uphold the well being of the Macau community.

By the end of November 2007, CEM provided service to 210,793 customers. Macau peninsula accounted for 86.54% of the total customer base, Taipa 12.73%, and Coloane 0.73%.
