Internet of Things Engineering and Intelligent Control

Internet of Things Engineering and Intelligent Control

Internet of Things Engineering and Intelligent Control are an emerging and important discipline in ECE department. The Internet of things (IoTs) describe physical objects with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the internet or other communications networks. The field has evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies, including ubiquitous computing, commodity sensors, increasingly powerful embedded systems, and machine learning. IoTs are collectively enabled by embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, control systems, and automation fields. More and more application scenarios use IoTs and intelligent control technologies, such as smart home, building automation, transportation, energy management, manufacturing, agriculture, environmental monitoring, medical and healthcare, et al.
In this discipline, the students can learn some theoretical knowledge on IoTs, such as “Advanced Integrated Circuit Design for IoTs”, “Embedded Systems for IoTs Applications”, “Computer Networks and Internet”, “Modeling and Theoretical Analysis for Communications Systems”, “Cloud Computing”, “Data Mining and Decision Support Systems”, “Principles of Artificial Intelligence”, “Big Data Processing and Analysis”, and so on. The students also have lots of opportunities to participate in practical projects in the above courses or technical competitions.
