In our group, we focus on the development of digital microfluidics development. For the applications, we mainly target for the precision diagnostics in three directions, specific DNA identification, specific immunoassays, and cell-based drug screening.

Digital Microfluidics Platform

We dig into the electrowetting phenomena and try to control it to be applied in digital microfluidics for various applications. The work includes creating novel systems utilizing satellite droplets ejections on-chip, setting up automatic electric control system for droplet manipulations, and developing software for data analysis for real-time feedback and control.

DNA Amplification

We develop microfluidic technologies for DNA amplification on DMF chip, chemicals for the more specific and sensitive DNA detection, and prototype devices for point-of-care disease diagnosis.

Cell-based Drug Screening

Targeting cancer precision medicine, we develop a cell-based drug screening system with digital microfluidics. A limited amount of primary tumor cells are cultured on-chip with various drugs and drug combinations for the most effective therapy for a specific patient.
