Master of Science in Construction Project Management

The Master of Science in Construction Project Management programme is designed to prepare construction professionals and those in related fields to meet current and future challenges in our built environment. The programme aims to provide students with a thorough understanding of the principles of project management, and to apply them across different phases of the construction project development cycle to achieve successful project outcomes in terms of time, cost, quality, safety and sustainability. The programme will also provide students with the knowledge of the state-of-the-art technology in the construction industry, so that students will be well equipped to meet the needs of the future workforce.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes

  • An ability to apply the construction project management body of knowledge relevant to the discipline or professional field.
  • An ability to demonstrate knowledge on quality, safety and environmental control of construction projects.
  • An ability to apply construction project management principles and practices to solve complex problems in the construction environment.
  • An ability to function effectively as an individual and a leader in a team within the construction sector.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with the construction management community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and make effective presentations.
  • An ability to stay abreast of contemporary issues in construction project management.
  • An ability to recognise the need for, and have the preparation to engage in life-long acquisition or application of knowledge or skills in construction management.
  • An ability to use the techniques and skills necessary for practicing project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic background, with an overall result of Grade C+ or higher 
  • Proof of English Proficiency

For all Master’s Students:

Research and Teaching Assistantship

  • Monthly stipend of MOP 8,000 (full support) or MOP 4,000 (half support)
  • Tuition and/or any other kinds of fees that may incur during the course of studies will not be covered

For Local Students:

STEM Scholarship

  • Scholarship recipients of master’s degree programmes will receive a one-off scholarship in their first year of study
  • The scholarship is one-off and students can only receive once throughout their entire study period of the programme
  • It is also compatible with other types of scholarships, academic awards and allowances offered by the UM.

International Student Scholarship

Type A Scholarship:

  • 100% waiver of Master’s Degree Programme tuition fee
  • 100% waiver of on-campus accommodation fee (shared bedroom)
  • Half teaching assistantship (MOP 4,000/month)

Type B Scholarship:

  • 100% waiver of Master’s Degree Programme tuition fee

Type C Scholarship:

  • International tuition differential waiver (awardees pay the local student tuition rate)
