The 20th Annual Conference of HKSTAM 2016 in Conjunction with The 12th Shanghai – Hong Kong Forum on Mechanics and Its Application
The 20th Annual Conference of HKSTAM 2016 in conjunction with The 12th Shanghai – Hong Kong Forum on Mechanics and Its Application was hosted on 9 April 2016 in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
Xueying Jing presented an attractive titled “Modelling soil-structural interface shear test using discrete element method”. A soil-structural interface shear test was performed, as a rolling resistance is imposed between spherical particles to reduce the particles’ rotation.
Linshuang Zhao made a presentation titled “A Simplified Model for the Column-Supported Embankment System”. A simplified model was carried out to study the load transfer mechanism for this kind of embankment.
Huaxiang Zhu investigated the interaction between force-chains (FCs) and meso-structures in this study, title “On the interaction between force-chains and confining meso-structures in two-dimensional granular materials

The 21st Annual Conference of HKSTAM (2017) in conjunction with the 13th Jiangsu – Hong Kong Forum on Mechanics and Its Application is held on April 8, 2017 at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Weibin Chen, Yongzhan Chen and Zhiliang Cheng did the presentation titled “3D DEM modelling on the interface directional shearing behavior between soil and structure”, “Enhancement of the Strength Properties of Pb Contaminated Soil Using Nanoscale Zero Valent Iron (nZVI)” and “Deflection measurement of thin-walled hollow tube with embedded FBG Sensors”

This conference held in Seoul, Korea on Sep.17-22 2017. Weibin Chen had a punishment in this 19th ICSMGE, which is titled “Effects of shear direction on the shearing behavior of a soil-structural interface using discrete element method”.

2nd International Symposium on Asia Urban GeoEngineering
The 2nd International Symposium on Asia Urban Geo-Engineering held on November 24-27, 2017 in Changsha, a historical and modern city in Hunan, China. The first symposium was held in Fukuoka, Japan. Prof. Zhou is one of the Scientific Committee members.

he 6th OSMG held in Nanjing University on 3-5 Nov 2017. Prof. Zhou was one of the International academic committee members. Zhiliang Cheng attended this conference. Poster of this paper was awarded the Best Poster Award.

21st Annual Conference of HKSTAM 2018
The 21th Annual Conference of HKSTAM 2018 in conjunction with the 14th Shanghai–Hong Kong Forum on Mechanics and Its Application was held at April 14, 2018 in the Hong Kong Polytechnical University. The conference topics cover mechanics and its application in all science and engineering disciplines.

GeoShanghai International Conference 2018
The 4th GeoShanghai International Conference was held in Shanghai in May 27 2018. 2018 Joint Annual Conference of Physical Societies in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (YGA2018)” (粵港澳大灣區物理學會2018聯合年會)
This conference taken place at the University of Macau from July 26 to 29, 2018. This is the first time for the University of Macau and the Physical Societies in Macao SAR, Hong Kong SAR and Guangdong to jointly organize this annual conference. This joint annual conference aims to gather researchers in all fields of physics as well as related disciplines, industries etc., and to provide opportunities for participants exchanging new developments in physics and making contact with each other.
