The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau held its first lecture and departmental sharing sessions on the 12th and 15th Aug for the 2025/2026 academic year. More than 400 undergraduate and over 600 postgraduate students joined FST professors in a vibrant gathering to mark the beginning of the new academic year and kick off a fulfilling and enriching educational journey.
Cheng-Zhong Xu, FST Dean, along with faculty leadership and departmental representatives, delivered the opening lecture and encouraged new students to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead. They urged students to make the most of their time at UM, equip themselves with essential skills, cultivate independent thinking and innovation, and prepare for a purposeful future.
During the postgraduate orientation session, Dean Xu highlighted UM’s distinctive educational strengths, including its world-class faculty, excellent teaching standards, cutting-edge research achievements, three State Key Laboratories, and FST’s advanced research facilities—providing students with a high-quality academic platform. He noted that, with strong support from the central and Macao SAR governments, the university has achieved remarkable growth in recent years.
Zhiguo Gong, Interim Associate Dean, addressed undergraduate students, encouraging them to actively contribute to the development of the university, the faculty, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Prof. Gong further urged students to take full advantage of UM’s international exchange opportunities, broaden their horizons, and make use of the rich on- and off-campus resources to enhance their professional competence and competitiveness. He emphasized the importance of setting ambitious goals and growing into globally minded, highly capable talents.
As the new academic year officially begins next week, the Faculty hopes that the first lecture and departmental sharing sessions will help new students better understand the university and faculty, adapt quickly to a vibrant and memorable campus life, and be fully prepared to embark on a new and transformative chapter in their lives.
澳門大學科技學院於本周 (12 日及15日) 為本科生及研究生舉行了2025/2026學年「學院第一課」及「學系分享會」，400多名本科生、600多名研究生與學院教授齊聚一堂，共同見證新學年的開始，為充實豐富的學習之旅拉開帷幕。
科技學院院長須成忠、學院管理層及學系代表為新生展開第一堂課，同時也勉勵學生挑戰與機遇並存，好好把握在澳大的光陰，努力裝備自己，培養獨立思考和創新能力，為邁向理想人生做準備。
在研究生第一課上，須院長介紹了澳門大學獨特的辦學特色及優勢、來自世界各地的優秀師資團隊、卓越的教學水平、前沿的研究成果、三個國家級重點實驗室及學院的優秀的研究設備等，為一眾學生提供優質的學習平台。他表示，在國家和特區政府的鼎力支持下，大學近年來實現了飛躍的發展。
鞏志國代副院長在本科生第一課上寄語新生們作為大學、學院及粵港澳大灣區的一員，應積極貢獻灣區乃至整個國家的發展。鞏志國教授還鼓勵學生充分利用大學提供的國際交流機會，開拓視野，善用校內外豐富的資源和寶貴的機會，不斷提升自己的專業能力和競爭力，追求更高遠的目標，成長為具有國際視野和競爭力的人才。
隨著澳大新學年將於下周正式展開，學院期望本年度的學院第一課及學系分享會能幫助新生更好地了解大學和學院，盡早適應豐富多彩且難忘的校園生活，為展開人生的新篇章做好充分準備。
