FST Hosts Global Academic Symposium, Gathering Elite Scholars from Around the World

To foster interdisciplinary dialogue and global knowledge sharing, the University of Macau (UM) successfully organized a global academic symposium covering multiple fields, including arts and humanities, health sciences, science and technology, and materials engineering. The event aimed to establish an international, high-level platform for academic exchange, bringing together scholars, researchers, and industry experts from around the world to share insights, explore innovative solutions, and delve into the latest research achievements and future trends across various disciplines.

The three-day symposium featured a sub-forum hosted by the Faculty of Science and Technology under the theme “Connecting Ideas: Global Perspectives in Science and Technology” It gathered renowned scientists and research experts from top universities in the United Kingdom, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The discussions focused on cutting-edge fields such as blockchain trust systems, AI-based medical diagnostics, distributed energy grid integration, giant fluid antenna systems, carbon neutrality technologies, bio-inspired soft robotics, offshore geotechnical engineering, and industrial system optimization.  The symposium also attracted nearly a hundred students from various disciplines, who actively participated and exchanged ideas with experts on frontier scientific topics. 

This symposium not only showcased UM and Faculty of Science and Technology’s exceptional capabilities in promoting international scientific research collaboration but also further solidified Macau’s role as a key academic hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Moving forward, UM will continue to build bridges for international collaboration, facilitate cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange, and work hand in hand with global partners to create a new chapter in the integration of technology and the humanities.
