Prof. Huanyu Jin from Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences gave a talk entitled ‘Dynamic active sites in electrocatalysis’ at the Faculty of Science and Technology on 7 January 2026.
At the seminar, Prof. Jin shared his latest research results in the fields of electrocatalysis and sustainable energy conversion. He explored the fundamentals of dynamic active sites as a strategy for self-adaptive electrocatalysts, surpassing static designs for reactions like water splitting and CO2 reduction. Through theoretical calculations and in-situ/ex-situ experiments, Jin demonstrated their stability under harsh conditions and reversibility’s role in enhancing performance, paving the way for next-generation high-efficiency catalysts. Hosted by Prof. Hui Pan at IAPME, the talk inspired discussions on advancing nanomaterials for energy applications.
