Prof. Takayuki ICHIKAWA from Hiroshima University gave a talk entitled ‘Material Science Toward Achieving Carbon Neutrality Material Science Toward Achieving Carbon Neutrality’ at the Faculty of Science and Technology on 16 Oct. 2025.

At the seminar, Prof Takayuki ICHIKAWA shared his latest research results in the fields of hydrogen utilization technology and high-performance secondary batteries, which are critical for achieving carbon neutrality and addressing renewable energy fluctuations. His work focuses on developing advanced metal hydrides, such as MgH2, TiFe, and LiBH4, for high-capacity hydrogen storage and controlled absorption/desorption processes. By employing nano-composite techniques and precise material characterization, his group aims to enhance hydride properties and explore cost-effective thermochemical methods for hydrogen production, targeting a production cost of around 2 USD/kg.
