Speaker Prof. Lian Huizhen Emeritus Professor, School of Civil Engineering Tsinghua University, Beijing Abstract Concrete technology has been developing rather empirically. However, recent research has indicated that we can better understand concrete through certain scientific concepts. This seminar will present the scientific concepts that would help us to improve our understanding of concrete and to more accurately predict the behaviour of concrete. With these scientific concepts, we should be able to optimize the mix design of concrete for the production of higher performance concrete.
