Prof. Zijian Zheng from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University gave a talk entitled ‘Porous Conductive Textiles for Wearable Electronics’ at the Faculty of Science and Technology on June 22, 2021. Professor Zheng holds the full professorship at the Institute of Textile and Clothing (ITC) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has done pioneering work on are surface and polymer science, flexible and wearable materials and devices.

At the seminar, Prof. Zheng shared his latest research results in the fields of flexible devices. In particular, he shared the development of highly conductive, flexible and washable conductive fibers, yarns and fabrics through polymer-assisted metal deposition (PAMD). He also discussed the development of highly permeable stretchable conductors, namely liquid metal fiber mat (LMFM), which enables long-term wearable and 3D monolithic stretchable electronics.

In the last part of seminar, Prof. Zheng introduced a newly established scientific journal EcoMat for that he is the Editor-in-Chief. EcoMat is a flagship open access journal in green energy and environment of Wiley.
