The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Science and Engineering Promotion (CSEP) recently held an award ceremony for winners of the 2019 Macao Youth Innovation Challenge. During the ceremony, the centre presented prizes to more than 100 outstanding students from 15 local high schools.  The champion and first-runner up students will be eligible to join the Junior S&T Talents Training Programme.

The Macao Youth Innovation Challenge was jointly organised by the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ), and hosted by the CSEP. Award presenters include Chan Wan Hei, member of the Administrative Committee of the FDCT; Cheong Man Fai, chief of the Department of Youth of the DSEJ; Chan Pou Kun, acting head of the Division of School Sports and Youth Activities of the DSEJ; ; Prof Mei Bao from Macau University of Science and Technology; and Kou Kam Fai, principal of Pui Ching Middle School and Prof Tam Kam Weng, director of the CSEP.

The CSEP is a core component of the Macao Base for Primary & Secondary STEM Education, which was founded by UM in June 2018. The base is dedicated to promoting science popularisation and education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), in collaboration with the FDCT, the DSEJ, the Chinese Educators’ Association of Macau, Macau Catholic Schools Association, Macao Science Center, and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau. It also provides training for teachers and students from local primary and secondary schools.

澳門大學科學暨工程科普推廣中心日前舉行2019澳門青少年創新挑戰賽頒獎典禮,向來自15間澳門高中的100多名優秀學生頒獎。一等獎及二等獎學生將有資格參加青少年科技人材培訓計劃。

該比賽由澳門科技發展基金和教育暨青年局共同主辦,由澳大科學暨工程科普推廣中心承辦。澳門科技發展基金委員陳允熙、教育暨青年局青年廳廳長張敏輝及教育暨青年局學校體育暨課餘活動事務處代處長陳寶娟、澳門科技大學教授梅苞、培正中學校長高錦輝以及科學暨工程科普推廣中心主任譚錦榮獲邀擔任頒獎嘉賓。

澳門中小學生科技實踐基地於2018年成立,以澳大科學暨工程科普推廣中心為核心,推出一系列STEM教育計劃,支持社區科學推廣活動,為中小學師生提供可持續培訓;基地也透過與各界合作,推動澳門科普教育的發展。
