Research Interests

  1. Piling in Macau soil conditions.
  2. Pile soil-structure interaction and its effects on earthquake analysis of structures in Macau.
  3. Analysis and restoration techniques of historic buildings in Macau.

From 2016     Cape Verde Intergrated Resort & Casino Project, Cape Verde
    To carry out structural design review on Client’s behalf.
       
2017-19     Social Facility  Fit out Project inside Public Housing at L$ & L5 in Fai Chi Kei, Macau
    To review and coordinate structural and plumbing & drainage design.
       
2013-16     Macau Fisherman’s Wharf – Phase I Extension
    To serve as Project Manager for the planning and development of the project.
       
2011-13     Macau Light Rapid Transit Phase 1 Segment C250
    To serve as Coordinator of design team in this comprehensive design of a 2km viaduct and 4 stations. Team contains consultants from Hong Kong and Macau.
       
2010-11     Public Housing in Fai Chi Kei
    To serve as the Registered Engineer of the project.

1997-99     Reservoir T-50 in Taipa
    To review the structural design and constructiveness of this 20,00m3 capacity reservoir located in Taipa hill.
    To modify structural design as needed after the review.
    To represent the Owner (The Macao Water Supply Co. Ltd.) as the “Técnico Responsável” of the work.
       
1998     Land Reclamation for Future Taipa Hospital
    To carry out reclamation design of this 93,000m2 land including monitoring scheme for settlement during construction.
    To provide technical guidance and support to construction team during work.

Since 1990     New Macau-Taipa Bridge
    To implement Q.C. plan on precast and prestressed concrete structural elements such as piles, slabs, columns, beams, and girders for cable-stayed spans.
    To modify and execute instrumentation and monitoring program of the bridge.  The plan involves measuring of strains, displacements, and rotations of different structural elements at various stages of their construction including at services.
       
Since 1989     Macau International Airport Construction
    To study and compare the various construction alternatives for the airport in the planning phase.
    To prepare quality control scheme and quality control manual in the construction phase.  The Q.C. scheme covers R/C structures, prestressed structures, and steel structures for runway, taxiways and all facilities buildings in the terminal area.
    To lead teams for the execution of the above Q.C. work.
       
Since 1989     To plan and to carry out structural evaluation on existing structures and to prepare rehabilitation/repair/strengthening schemes.  Examples of such works include

1993     Teledifusão de Macau Transmission Tower
    To plan and perform complete inspection on deterioration due to rusting of the 75 meter steel frame.  Specifications on repair method were prepared based on findings from the inspection.
       
1991-92     Nova Creche Building
    To represent owner as project manager for construction of the 6-stories delux building.
       
1990-92     Tunel de Guia and Viaduto de San Francisco
    To provide Q.C. on all reinforced and prestressed concrete components of the structures.  Exerting tight cooperation with the construction team, the project for the 400 m long viaduct was completed in 4 months in order to allow traffic for the Macau Grand Prix Auto Racing.
       
1989     New Macau Jetfoil Terminal
    To perform structural analyses and designs for the R/C structures and steel frames of the 3-stories complex.
       
1989     Tong Lei Concrete Factory Buildings
    To perform complete R/C analysis and design for the various facilities of the factory including foundation and retaining walls.
