澳門大學科技學院將於2025年開辦九個夏令營,專為本地高中生設計,以促進科技學習與交流。這些夏令營將提供多樣的活動,包括:

The Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Macau will host nine summer camps in 2025, aimed at local high school students to promote learning and exchange in technology. These camps will offer a variety of activities, including:

  • Laboratory Tours: Students can experience advanced research environments firsthand.
  • Lectures: Professionals will share the latest knowledge in technology.
  • Competitions: These will stimulate students’ innovative thinking and teamwork skills.
  • DIY Activities: Hands-on projects will enhance the fun of learning.

The registration period is from now until June 2, 2025 (Monday). Participants are kindly requested to scan the QR code and complete the online application form. After submission, please inform your school representative. The school is responsible for compiling the participant list into an Excel file and submitting it to Dr. Leong.

The Internet of Things technology represented by 5G is an important frontier of modern technological development and one of the core foundational technologies for smart city construction. In order to attract more local students to actively learn IoT technology, cultivate future information technology talents in Macau, and contribute to the construction of a smart Macau and a smart Greater Bay Area, the University of Macau plans to launch a summer camp for Internet of Things and Smart City. This summer camp is based on the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Science and Technology, University of Macau, and the State Key Laboratory of Smart City Internet of Things, University of Macau. We will invite renowned scholars from relevant fields at the University of Macau to introduce the basic concepts, research status, and future development trends of smart cities and the Internet of Things, in order to help establish a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the development of smart cities and IoT technology. At the same time, technical visits will be arranged to allow participating students to have a close-up understanding of relevant technological applications. In addition, the summer camp will also provide students with IoT technology design workshops to enhance their hands-on abilities and strengthen their understanding of IoT through practical experience.

Applications of electromechanical engineering can be found in all aspects of our daily life, such as automobiles, fire protection systems, air-conditioning equipment, various mechanized equipment/automated robots, and the research and development of advanced materials, etc. And almost all industrial activities require some degree of professional knowledge and/or technical support from electromechanical engineering. The proposed Electromechanical Summer Camp will focus on activities based on the operating principles of robotic manipulator arm and quadruped robot dogs, mechanical design of mechanical structures for load bearing applications, mechanical tests, manufacturing technologies and industrial and laboratories visits related to the diversified areas of electromechanical engineering.

The University of Macau IME State-Key Laboratory Integrated Circuit Design Summer Camp provides students with a unique chance to engage in the AI chip design process. “氣候轉變與土木工程夏令營”之目的是以互動和啓發式的科普活動使中學生了解在氣候轉變下,土木工程師如何因應環境變化提出解決方案,培養學生對土木工程學科的興趣,並認識如何使用交叉學科技巧思索並解決問題。是次夏令營將會舉辦一系列的互動式活動包括講座、工作坊、機構參觀以及小遊戲,希望增強學生了解氣候轉變的衝擊以及如何使用工程技術提出氣候變遷調適之道,以致作為全球公民保護大自然的責任。

The purpose of Climate Change and Civil Engineering Summer Camp (CCCESC) is to provide interactive and STEM activities in form of game, organization visit, talk, workshop and experiment) to high students. The three days camp will make students learn more about basic knowledge in climate science and civil engineering knowledge, stimulating the student thinking and problem solving skills in cross-disciplines way as well as their interests in civil engineering subjects. CCCESC will show how civil engineers have a key role to play in adaptation to climate change and their global responsibility to help future generations to care for and protect the natural environment and to understand the challenges of climate change through education.

主題一:移動機器人的設計和編程,幫助學生了解人工智能的一些基礎知識和智能控制的原理。在比賽中,學生需要組裝移動機器人,連接傳感器,編程和調整參數,完成機器人的自主迷宮解決任務。

主題二:計算機視覺的應用。在這個活動中,我們將向學生介紹計算機視覺和人工智能的應用。學生將學習如何結合人工智能和計算機視覺進行編程,使機械手臂完成一些任務。

This summer camp is open to secondary school students in Macau to give them exposure to cutting-edge research topics, a better understanding of the study and experiment processes in universities, and more knowledge about the UM and the Faculty of Science and Technology. The camp consists of lectures, experiments and programming activities. Through these activities, students can gain some understanding of the principle and development of robots and artificial intelligence.

Content

Topic 1: Design and programming of mobile robots, to help students understand some basic knowledge of artificial intelligence and principles of intelligent control. In the competition, students need to assemble mobile robots, connect sensors and program and adjust parameters to complete the robot’s autonomous maze solving.

Topic 2: Applications of computer vision. In this activity, we will introduce computer vision and applications of artificial intelligence to students. Students will learn how to combine Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision for programing, allowing the robotic arm to complete some tasks.

This summer camp is open to secondary school students in Macau to give them exposure to cutting-edge research topics, a better understanding of the study and experiment processes in universities, and more knowledge about the UM and the Faculty of Science and Technology. The camp consists of lectures, experiments and programming activities. Through these activities, students can understand the basic composition and functions, implementation methods and basic effects of modern autonomous driving systems.

Topic 1: Recognition and practice of Autonomous Vehicle Sensors. Students will understand which basic sensors will be equipped in autonomous vehicle to complete the autonomic driving tasks, and identify their basic working principle and data format through physical devices. This topic includes lectures, interactive games and hardware practices.

Topic 2: Recognition and experience of Integrated Autonomous Driving System and simulation. The topic includes observation of the system completing the full process of fully automated driving in the simulation environment, deepening recognition of the sensor acquisition data format and its specific processing mode, connecting the knowledge from day one. This topic includes lectures, simulated experience and detailed explanation of advanced knowledge about some module algorithms.

Our oceans are facing immense challenges from climate change including rising temperatures, acidification, and pollution. The impacts of these threats on marine ecosystems are already being felt. The Ocean Science and Technology Summer Camp 2025 aims to raise awareness about these important issues amongst students and empower the next generation of ocean stewards.

The one-day hands-on camp experience will enlighten students through a variety of interactive learning activities. They will get to experience educational activities that demonstrate innovative ocean technology used to explore the oceans. A guided tour of the state-of-the-art ocean laboratories at the University of Macau will provide insight into cutting-edge research through demonstrations of advanced equipment and technologies. Informative seminar delivered by experts will impart technical knowledge on diverse topics and hot topics in ocean science and technology.

Students will also participate in practical experiments to understand ocean sciences better. Through interactive seminars, lab visits, games and experiments held over a stimulating one-day session, the camp aims to build awareness and foster a sense of ocean stewardship amongst participating students. It hopes to ignite their passion to address the critical challenges facing our seas.

機器學習(ML)和大型語言模型(LLM)是我們2025年數​​學夏令營的主打主題,我們將透過數學和統計學的學習,探索它們與資料科學的關係。我們知道高中生對各種高科技發展很感興趣,但這並不是單純地從高中教育邁向現代科技領域,需要紮實的基礎才能實現這樣的進步。新的想法不是一天就能自然產生的。各界專家都一再強調,基礎紮實最重要,這也是我們籌劃這次訓練營的目的。我們將在訓練營中學習相關知識,探索數學如何成為重要的工具,統計如何成為解決實際問題的方法。 我們夏令營的另一個主題是幫助參與者回顧自己的學習習慣,並討論一些提升自學能力的技巧。

在訓練營期間,我們將在同一週安排一個數學建模工作坊,該工作坊針對參加國際建模數學挑戰賽(IMMC)大中華區比賽的學生。暑期學員有優先參加資格。

Summer Camp of Numerical Challenge for the Future 2025

Introduction
Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Model (LLM) are the main themes of our Math Summer Camp in 2025. We will explore their relationship with Data Science through the study of Mathematics and Statistics. We know that high-school students are interested in various high-tech development, but it is not simply a step from high-school training to the territory of modern technology, it takes a solid foundation to achieve such advances. New idea does not come up freely in only one day.   Experts from various fields had repeatedly emphasize solid foundation is the most important, and this is also our objective in planning this camp. We will go through the related knowledge in our camp, and discover how mathematics become the important tool, and how statistics become the method of solving the real-life problems.  Another theme of our summer camp is to help the participants to review his or her study habit, and discuss some tricks to improve the self-learning.

We will arrange a workshop of Mathematical Modelling in the same week of our camp, which is supposed for the students participating in the Greater China Contest of International Modelling Mathematical Challenge (IMMC). The summer participants have the priority to join the workshop.
